Balangir Bandh against Petrol Price Hike


In support of the National Bandh today, Balangir also observed a complete Bandh that hit normal life. The dawn to dusk bandh was called by BJD, BJP and KKD (Koshal Kranit Dal) in Balangir.

In response to the Bandh all the government and private offices remained closed. The schools and colleges of the town were also remained closed while business establishments remained out of trading. Even vehicular traffic was come to standstill except Police, Press and medical vehicles.

In the morning, KKD burnt an effigy of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Pattanaik protesting against the step motherly attitude to the region. The event was followed by rail-roko at the main ‘Balangir’ station.

It was marked that People from all walks of life extended their support to the bandh call. The call was against the steep hike in petrol price and for a demand to lower VAT.
