"Invest Bhubaneswar" Inagurated

“Invest Bhubaneswar”, the most awaited summit of entrepreneurs, investors, policy makers and business tycoons of Odisha was inaugurated on 21st December 2013 evening at Hotel Crown in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India in presence of the who’s who of business from Odisha and abroad. The event commenced with a positive note to bring in more values in terms of business to the state through different investment initiatives.

Recognized and dynamic business tycoons like Mr. Ramesh Mohapatra, President, Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (UCCI), Mr. Mahendra Kumar Gupta, Chairman, CII Odisha Chapter, Mr. J. K. Mohanty, Chairman, Swosti Group; Dr. Pradeepta Mohanty, Chairman, S N Mohanty Group; Mr. Rajiv Sahoo, renowned Chartered Accountant & Financial Consultant, Mr. Binod Das, President, OPECA spoke on the occasion and shared their experience with the audience. Shantanu Deb Mukharjee from West Bengal and Mr. Bharadwaj Mishra, NRO from Australia appreciated the role of “Invest Bhubaneswar” in fostering new ideas and bringing in young entrepreneurs to the state.

In the inaugural ceremony, following welcome by Organizing Committee member Ayaskant Mohanty, “Invest Bhubaneswar” Debasish Patnaik spoke on the inception of the forum and thanked all who supported in propelling the initiative to the level of a movement.


The distinguished guests there were of the view that entrepreneurship in Odisha is certainly challenging, but it unquestionably pays dividends to those who have ideas, intention, innovation, patience and perseverance. It is true that business needs a lot of hard work, networking and support to plant, grow and yield the fruit.

The three daylong event of Invest Bhubaneswar has attracted young entrepreneurs, promoters of start-up and many established business personalities, investors, speakers, experts, scientists and venture capitalists, NRIs, VC funding experts, Management & Engineering professionals, academicians, government officials and representatives from different parts of the globe.

The ongoing event “Invest Bhubaneswar- 4th Odisha Symposium 2013” focuses on two major future business opportunities. The schedule is that, on the second day, a technical session will be on Agriculture and Food Processing and another is circled around Electronic Semiconductor Design and Manufacturing (ESDM).

Local Entrepreneurs like Mr. Ayaskanta Mohanty, Annanda Padhy, Tanmay Mohanty and some others from various business sectors, NRIs (from US and other countries) and academicians are behind this endeavor. The event is also supported by the Govt. of Odisha and organizations like TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) Bhubaneswar Chapter.

Mountaineering Function held in Bhubaneswar


To encourage the budding mountaineers of Orissa state as well as to make familiar mountaineering amongst the students, the East Zone Committee of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), the apex national body for mountaineering, skiing, rock climbing and trekking at high altitudes in India, has organized the ‘Bhubaneswar Metro Function 2013’ on 7th and 8th December at Sainik School in Bhubaneswar.


After the welcome address by IMF East Zone Chairman Manik Banerjee the distinguished guests were invited to the dais. Padmashree Chandra Prakash Vohra, the first Indian civilian to climb Mount Everest was the main attraction there. He addressed the audience in the inaugural speech and depicted the glorious story of his days as a mountaineer. His speech was followed by address by Group Captain K C Taneja, principal Sainik School, and Bhubaneswar and then a short film on Indian Mountaineering Foundation was exhibited.

Another stalwart Col. Anand Swaroop was also present in this programme as a guest who talked about the scope of Adventure Sport in Army through audio visual aid. ‘Lure of Himalaya’ Amulya Sen also talked in brief about Himalayan expeditions.



The programme was attended by Ganesh Jena, the first Oriya who had climbed Mount Everest in 2011 as well as the students of the hosting institution, the Sainik School of Bhubaneswar and interested students from other schools of the capital city including girl students.
